So, we entered the holiday season with us about half-way complete. We had a lot of company who were able to enjoy the barn's covered porch. And, Emma had pretty much claimed the parlor as her personal fort. We had installed a slide off the front porch for her to enjoy while we worked.
We continued to work on the lap-boarding and some internal barn structure. But, mainly we enjoyed our family and the holiday season. |
Well, December brought some snow and colder weather. While I know this is about the construction of our barn, I couldn't resist adding this picture of our spring house and creek. It is absolutely one of my favorite places on the property!
As soon as this snow cleared, we took advantage of some warmer weather and added the last section of roof. We wrapped the barn completely to keep any wind out. We know the bulk of cold weather was on it's way. At least we could work inside. This was a very good thing. As you can see at the top of this page, we rung in the New Year with some weather which was less than conducive to construction. We had temperatures up to 15 degrees below zero, our pipes froze twice, and we had quite a few snow storms and/or freezing rain. We decided to add a ceiling and lights to the parlor to keep the cold wind out. So much better! |
